Our Process
Concept and Assessment
Concept tests can be used in a number of different ways. Some instructors use them at the beginning of class to gauge students’ understanding of readings or homework. Some use them intermittently in class to test students’ comprehension. Based on how well students perform, the instructor may decide to move on in the lecture or pause to review a difficult concept.
Another method is to give students the chance to respond to a question individually, then put them in pairs or small groups to compare and discuss their answers. After a short period of time, the students vote again for the answer they think is correct. This gives students the opportunity to articulate their reasoning for a particular answer.
Planning and Design
Project Planning & Design focuses on the schematic design phase of a project. In this experience area, you’ll learn to lay out building designs, review building codes and regulations, coordinate schematics with consultants, and communicate design concepts with your client.
Required hours: 1,080
Some of the tasks in this area may be tough to tackle early in your career—such as preparing Cost of Work estimates. That’s why it’s important to meet with your supervisor regularly and create a plan for getting exposure to a variety of opportunities.Cost Estimate and Schedule
While conceptual project estimating and scheduling can give a rough picture of budget and execution time, a crucial piece of information in initial decision making process – with developing of the project design, final cost and schedule can be determined on a much higher level of detail.
With virtually each building element being modeled, exact quantities can be taken off and precise cost estimates can be made to a detail level of brick and tile. BEXEL provides our proprietary databases of work item unit costs & norms, complying with North American, German or Russian standards, but we also provide the option to work with our clients’ experts on forming legacy databases which can also be used on future projects.
Permit
Building permits are a type of authorization that must be granted by a government or other regulatory body before the construction of a new or existing building can legally occur. The U.S. Census Bureau reports the finalized number of the total monthly building permits on the 18th working day of every month.
